Studio Thoughts 001

I've decided to write more about the process of making music on this blog, because it's basically what I've been doing a lot of lately. And it's what has been keeping me from updating this blog with anything worth while. So without further stalling... STUDIO THOUGHTS!

So yesterday I was chillin at my friend Mike's house and playing on his MPC. As a producer who uses only software and some keyboards, it is a rare treat to feel and play an instrument more so than program. I think I'm going to get one of those things. I have always felt dance music lacks something when people start doing the robot. Do you know why people do the robot? It's because the music inspires them to clench up their body and start convulsing in angular poses. I don't know, but I don't want my music to inspire that. (Editors note, Daft Punks around the world has a groove ... or at least a shuffle. It's the funky robot voice that inspires the robot. And Michel Gondry.)

And some people do the robot for no reason. I thought these people stopped going to clubs in the early 2000s. But apparently for some people it's still funny to do the robot to anything in particular. These people are at least 40+ years old with children contemplating marriage.

Anyways, I am planning on working damn hard on the KNFOLK Compilation coming out this summer. That's the biggest thing going through my mind music wise. And my friend Mike is gonna lay down something on it too, using MPC+Ableton. Love that.

Looking forward to a productive summer, and also to more posts as a PRODUCER and not as a writer. It is a different voice, and it's a huge part of what I do in my life. TTYL.
